The Center for Living and Learning (formerly California Non-Profit Center for Living and Learning) received its 501(c)3 tax exempt status for Federal Income Tax purposes from the IRS in an advance ruling determination letter signed by the IRS on 22 September 1993. The advanced ruling period ended 24 September 2002, at which point permanent tax exempt status was attained. We are listed in IRS Publication 78, "List of Tax Exempt Organizations." Each of the 50 individual states recognizes the Federal Tax Exempt status of a charity.

The Center for Living and Learning was incorporated in the State of California on January 29, 1993 as public benefit non-profit corporation no. 1850967.

Our Registration date with the California Registry of Charitable Trusts was January 31, 1993, and our registration number is 88802. Tax exempt status from state income taxes was also granted on January 29, 1993 by the California Franchise Tax Board.

We use funds from donated vehicles for several of our charitable programs, but principally for our primary apprenticeship program.
